Introduction

Ewa Czarniecka impressionist artist portrait textured oil painting

Ewa Czarniecka artist captivates through an extraordinary sensory crossover—she has always heard paintings as sounds and seen sounds and paintings as vivid colours, channeling this gift into bold, layered oils that "scream" with emotional intensity and luminous joy on canvas.

Her Ewa Czarniecka artwork bridges abstract gesture and Impressionist light, using thick palette-knife impasto, rich harmonious tones, and textured depth to capture fleeting moods—dappled shade, shimmering reflections, urban vibrancy, or natural rhythms—prioritising liberated feeling over literal form. This creates resonant Ewa Czarniecka paintings and limited edition Ewa Czarniecka prints that invite collectors into warm, dynamic worlds of contemporary impressionist art full of authentic presence and sensory thrill.

From a quiet Polish village childhood marked by early athletic promise and artistic discovery to London's street-selling tenacity and a serene Welsh retreat, Ewa Czarniecka's path infuses her work with resilience, passion, and the same childlike excitement she felt at 13—now matured through decades of dedicated creation.

Biography

Early Sparks of Talent

Born: Krasiczyn, southeastern Poland, 1975

Ewa Czarniecka artist grew up in the small southeastern Polish village of Krasiczyn. At age 13, during a visit to her uncle's house, she encountered Bronisław Linke's emotionally overwhelming 'Sea of Blood', prompting her to immediately attempt recreating its power on canvas—her first true painting effort, modest though it was. This profound encounter sparked a lasting drive for visual expression.

Navigating Paths and Passions

She briefly attended university in Poland studying art but withdrew, feeling shy and overpowered by the competitive confidence of others; she has always considered herself self-taught. In youth Ewa pursued athletics with talent, achieving a remarkable 175 cm high jump and earning the nickname "Ewa the artist" from fellow sportspeople at training camps, where she brought canvases to paint alongside her training. For years she processed her inner world through daily journaling, devoting hours to pen and paper. When she returned to painting as an adult, she found greater clarity and power in capturing subtle details—like flickering light, dappled shade, or patterns the eye perceives but cameras miss—making paint her most liberating medium.

The Odyssey of Discovery

In 2002 Ewa moved to London with her husband (met during her university years in Poland), fully committed to a professional art career. She began selling originals every Sunday on Bayswater Road in Hyde Park, displaying work on the railings alongside other street artists. Initial gallery rejections led to intense solitary studio time, hardening her resolve and allowing relentless experimentation. With her husband's encouragement, she expanded to UK art fairs nationwide, building success through direct sales, features in art magazines, catalogue inclusions, and positive critical reviews. As demand grew countrywide, she sought freedom from London's distractions, relocating with her husband to the peaceful Brecon Beacons in South Wales—a familiar, relaxed setting of long walks and nature that now supports uninterrupted daily painting, shared with her three beloved cats.

Studio Alchemy and Enduring Vision

In her Welsh studio Ewa Czarniecka artist starts many pieces with emotional music that sparks the process, applying thick oils in layers with palette knives for striking texture, depth, and colours that "scream" joyfully. Her compositions gesture toward shapes and figures while emphasising light, reflection, and atmosphere, offering both creator and viewer a sense of liberation. This vision—still carrying the thrill of her 13-year-old discovery—now enriched by lifetime experience, resilience, and personal growth, defines every Ewa Czarniecka painting and Ewa Czarniecka print.
