Biography
Born: Buckinghamshire, UK
Amy Louise was born in Buckinghamshire, where her early passion for creativity shaped her artistic journey. Despite her grammar school’s emphasis on academic subjects, she pursued her love for art, finding inspiration in the textures and patterns of the world around her.
After declining a university place to study English Literature, Amy enrolled in an Art Foundation Year at Lincoln Art College, commuting two hours daily by bus. This dedication led her to explore various creative practices, ultimately discovering her passion for textiles. She graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from the University of Lincoln in 2011, later completing a residency in Sweden, designing elaborate carnival costumes that influenced her vibrant painting style.
Becoming a full-time artist in 2017, Amy established her studio in Milton Keynes. Her mixed-media animal portraits, featuring bold outlines and metallic highlights, draw on her fashion background to create characters with distinct personalities. Inspired by her children, Robyn and Charlie, her work often reflects family themes, as seen in pieces like ‘Tiny Toes,’ a sell-out flamingo family portrait.
Now a prominent figure in contemporary wildlife art, Amy’s paintings are exhibited in galleries across the UK and internationally. Her pet portraits, particularly of dogs, have gained a devoted following, while her innovative approach continues to push boundaries in the art world.
