Who hasn’t involuntarily given up their prize armchair for their furry/feathered/woolly/scaled/Impossimal best friend at one time or another?! It’s pretty much par for the course for those animal lovers with pet interests at heart. And this state of affairs hasn’t gone unnoticed by one of the country’s most loved (and roundly acclaimed) contemporary fine art exponents, Peter Smith; who in creative tandem with his wife and long-time collaborator, Jayne has just released his brand new autumn 2017 giclee on board limited edition. Humourist artist, Smith (and Smith)’s latest Impossimal-based study of the everyday, sees the loveable – and largely incorrigible – characters created by Smith crammed into a very accommodating wingback chair which, as the title otherwise implies, attests to ‘One Size Fits All’. This hand-monikered, 24” squared pictorial iteration from the best-selling Smith forms part of the new collection which the pair describe as being somewhere “between Dali and Wallace & Gromit”. Which just about sums up the broad – and ever-enduring - appeal of a timeless Smith classic, such as this.
